The RAW burst number on my 60D at ISO 100 shows up as 16 shots but I was able to get 20 before the buffer overloaded. Some of the updates are really necessary to keep the camera on an even keel with Nikon offerings and even the 60D.

A strange update if the 7D II is 'just around the corner'. The 7D is a very old model at this point, and its getting just about the most extensive firmware update in recent memory including new features. WHat can I say, I'm on the computer way too much. The only downside is that maybe this means 7Dmk2 is not too near? I'm sure someone will jump in and correct me if I'm grossly mistaken. you may need to buy an master 600 EX RT to sit on the hotshoe to trigger the off-camera 600 EX RT. So if the 600 EX RT doesn't have that backward-compatibility built into the flash unit. (I could be mistaken.) I'm pretty sure the 7D's wireless trigger is either IR or optical, because it requires the built-in flash to be popped up and the built-in flash actually fires. I don't think the 7D's wireless flash trigger will ever work on the 600 EX RT by itself. Does this make sense? I am yet to see anything about a 600 EX RT compatibility update for the 7D, or is it even needed? I read a post on this forum or DPR from a guy who bought a Canon 600 EX RT flash and found that the remote triggering would not work with the 7D because the 7D needed a firmware update.
